Events are essential to Legacy, as they serve as a catalyst for building a vibrant community where everyone can enjoy themselves and form connections with like-minded individuals. Our diverse range of activities, including game nights, sports festivals, and workshops, is designed to not only provide enjoyable experiences but also to organise fundraising events that unite people from all walks of life. Through these events, we strive to foster a sense of camaraderie and appreciation for Filipino culture, while also contributing to the financial support of students in the Philippines. By participating in our events, individuals have the opportunity to support the funding of a university scholarship for a student in the Philippines and for future events.

For our very first event, we fundraised 31,101.21 pesos through an Inter-Filsoc games night in collaboration with Tulong Kabataan and The University of Philippines Student council. This event brought together students from various Filipino societies including University of Birmingham, Warwick University, Birmingham City University and Coventry university. We socialised, played games and had fun all while giving back to the community in the Philippines!

Sportsfest

One of our biggest fundraisers was the 2023 Sportsfest event which welcomed over 100 people both playing in the games and watching on the sides. There were three main sports played; Basketball, Volleyball, and Dodgeball. It was a great way to build up and create the Legacy community through healthy competition.

Ating Fiesta Ball 2023

We ended the year with one big celebration. In collaboration with the Filipino societies of University of Birmingham and Birmingham City University, we had an incredible night to celebrate our first year and everyone who supported us. From Tinikling performances, games and caricature artists, we brough a piece of the Philippines into the UK. Thank you to our sponsors: AkingSinta Jewellery and Mamasons dirty ice cream.

We expanded our reach and held our first event outside of Birmingham, in Oxford through a chill social over drinks and games.
